Sancken Burgess, LMT, CLD, PPD, Midwife In-training
A graduate of the Massage Institute of Colorado, Sancken Burgess has been a practicing massage therapist in the city of Denver since 2007. Throughout her early years of work as a massage therapist, Sancken developed a strong desire to focus on the special needs of expectant and new mothers and pursuant of this newfound passion, in 2009, she completed Kate Jordan’s Bodywork for the Childbearing Years (Santa Cruz, CA), while also completing the CAPPA (Denver) Labor Doula program. Most recently, Sancken completed the Postpartum Doula training program with Debbie Young and has become equally passionate for the postpartum role. Through a special therapy known as Muscle Energy Technique, Sancken has found success in relieving neck, lower back pain and hip pain, predominately common during pregnancy and postpartum. Today, she continues to grow her knowledge and related skills through the pursuit of a certification as a registered midwife through NARM.
As an intuitive, educated and gifted healer and labor doula, Sancken is proud to be recognized as a doula that can support women and families through the entire birth process and assist women as they transition from pregnancy to motherhood - her greatest joy, second to being a mother, is witnessing and being a part of the empowerment of women through the birth process –
“Since the birth of my son, I now more than ever recognize birth as a key life experience that you, the birthing family, will remember for the rest of your life. I bring to my work a unique passion for serving new families and a strong commitment to excellence in the doula and massage profession and birth world.”
Sancken is a member of CAPPA, Colorado Doulas Association, House of Doula (Denver) and has been a featured Doula at Belly Bliss (June 2009).
